Four Ways to Overcome Your Fear

‭2 Timothy 1:6-7 KJV‬ — Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. [7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

It is possible to live in peace and tranquility in a world infested with fear and terror. You can be strong and courageous to do life. Mostly you have no other option than to face life with strength and courage.

It is important to understand that there are many types of fear, some which are right and healthy; say the fear of snakes, the fear of God, fear of your boss, the fear of dangerous objects. These are healthy types of fear and good for our survival instinct; it helps us to live with caution and stay safe.

But there is another type of fear (phobia) that incapacitates, hinders, and makes us timid. You must confront every phobia and anxiety that wants to keep you from Advancing.

‭Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV‬ — Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

There are three things we need to overcome and confront our fears: Power, Love, and Sound mind.

To overcome your fears;

Seek the Lord

Psalm 34:4 states that when the Psalmist sought the Lord, the Lord delivered him from his fears.

Challenge unhealthy thoughts

Most of your fears have unfounded reasoning behind them. Challenge unhealthy thoughts (See 1 Timothy 1:6-7)

Face your fear

What does not kill you will make you strong. If you have a way to avoid the situation, then do but if you must confront it, then be strong and face it. The four lepers overcame their fear of death because their only alternative was even scarier.

Trust the Lord, be strong and courageous

Count on the faithfulness of God. He is a present help to those who trust Him (See Psalm 56:3, Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 23:4 Psalm 46:1)

Stay blessed
