In All Thy Getting Get Understanding

The difference between wisdom and knowledge is perspective or understanding. Knowledge is simply to know or to be informed; wisdom is to understand what it should mean to you.Originally published at highcity.org

[Proverbs 4:7 KJV] “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”.

Wisdom is the principal thing, hence there is the need to get understanding. How then can we gain this understanding? Let us share practical steps to gain that understanding.

In life, the difference between wisdom and knowledge is perspective or understanding. Knowledge is simply to know or to be informed; wisdom is to understand what it should mean to you.

I read about two twin boys raised by an alcoholic father.

One grew up to be a worse alcoholic than the father. When asked why he drinks, he said “I watched and learnt from my father”. The other grew up and never touched anything alcoholic his entire life. When asked same question, he replied “I watched and learnt from my father”.

Two boys, same dad, same growing environment but they had two different perspectives.

In all thy getting, get wisdom, get understanding. I pray that the good Lord will enlighten you to know what to do with knowledge.

The steps to gain understanding for living is to be;

1. Subject to tutors;

There is a vast differencd between authority, right, capacity, and understanding. We gain understanding when we submit to our tutors. Your tutors and governors teach and prepare you for the future. The role of tutors and governance is to equip you for full function.

[Galatians 4:1‭-‬2 KJV] “Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be Lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father”.

2. Go to the ant;

Your ant is anyone you don’t respect much but is achieving more than you expect. The ant is a small animal yet can achieve much in a short time.

[Proverbs 6:6‭-‬8 KJV] “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: [7] Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, [8] Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest”.

3. Observe nature;

Nature always has something to teach. There is so much we can learn from nature. The Bible encourages us to study nature to understand truth.

[1 Corinthians 11:14 KJV] “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?”

4. Lay aside malice… and desire the sincere milk of the word;

A malicious hypocrite can never increase in knowledge. It takes sincerity to increase in knowledge.

[1 Peter 2:1‭-‬3 KJV] “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, [2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: [3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious”.

5. Pray;

God gives wisdom and does not reproach or rebuke you for asking for it. He shows great and mighty things and those who pray operate this high knowledge.

[James 1:5 AMP] “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him”.

6. Be prudent at heart and wise in the ear

May the Lord give each of us a prudent heart to understand wisdom. May your ears be empowered with wisdom so that in hearing you will understand.

[Proverbs 18:15 KJV] “The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge”.

Be blessed, I love you!

Breaking Limits by Knowledge

In the coming days. You will soar by light and understanding. The Lord shall make you quick to understand.Originally published at highcity.org

On this day, we are believing God for grace to break evil limits by the force of knowledge.

[Philippians 3:7-11 KJV] “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. [8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, [9] And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: [10] That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; [11] If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead”.

The Bible teaches us that apostle Paul gave up everything he was and had for two things:

  1. To win Christ and be found in Him
  2. To know Christ and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering

Why would a man give up so much for these two things? Why would apostle Paul give up so much, to spend the rest of his time seeking to win and to know Christ? This is simply because he knew that every evil limitation on his life can be broken by the force of knowledge. This is explain why the world spends so much time educating the next generation.

We can break many limits as individuals and as a church and as families when we educate the next generation. Knowledge is a master key to break evil limits imposed on you.

Knowledge empowers you for exploits

[Daniel 11:32‭-‬33 KJV] “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. [33] And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days”.

Those who do know their God shall wax strong and do exploits.

Moses was able to lead Israel to inherit the lands because he knew God. Those who have understanding shall instruct many. I pray that God will show Himself to us and empower us for exploits. Those who do know their God shall wax strong and do exploits.

Moses did not just know God but God showed him His ways.

[Psalms 103:7 KJV] “He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel”.

May the Lord make His ways known to us. We will do exploits when we know God. Knowledge empowers!

Knowing God enables you to trust Him absolutely.

Knowledge gives life and reinforcement to faith.

Though apostle Paul suffered many things because of his faith, message and ministry, he waxed strong in faith because he knew whom he had believed. Apostle Paul knew God and hence trusted absolutely in His ability to save and preserve.

Knowledge strengthens your faith, which moves mountains and makes all things possible.

[2 Timothy 1:8-14 KJV] “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; [9] Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, [10] But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: [11] Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. [12] For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. [13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us”.

Knowledge makes you stable

Wisdom and knowledge shall make you stable. May the Lord give us wisdom and knowledge. Receive the knowledge into deeper things of God.

[Isaiah 33:6 KJV] “And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure”.

Wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of our times. We live in an age of deception and cunningness; knowing what is believed among us in an orderly manner will make you stable. (See Luke 1:1-8, Ephesians 4:10-16)

That is why, in these last days the Lord shall give us teachers after His own heart who will feed us with knowledge and understanding.

[Jeremiah 3:15 KJV] “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”.

Knowledge puts you in charge

Knowledge puts you in charge. What you don’t know will keep you in bondage and captivity. The Bible says the people of God are gone into captivity for the lack of knowledge.

[Hosea 4:6 KJV] “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”.

Knowledge makes you fruitful

If we abide in Him and His word abides in us then we shall be fruitful. The word makes you fruitful. Knowledgeable people tend to earn more than unskilled labor.

[John 15:7 KJV] “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you”.

Prayer points

#1. Show me Your face;

Dear Lord as we stand in worship and waiting, reveal Youself to us. Let us know you through fellowship and relationship. Father show us Your face!

#2. Show us both Your ways and works;

Lord, tonight we ask that You shall show us great and unsearchable things. Show us both Your works and Your ways. Reveal Your ways and will to us that we may follow hard after You.

#3. Make us prudent at heart and wise in the ear.

Upon hearing, let us understand; and seeing, help us to discern. Make us quick to understand and smart at heart.

#4. Give us a sincere desire for the truth

Father, let knowledge be sweet to my soul, as an honeycomb. Give me the courage to endure truth. Help me to acknowledge truth when I hear it and give me grace to obey it, in the name of Jesus!

Amen

Benediction

In the coming days. You will soar by light and understanding. The Lord shall make you quick to understand.

Grace Grows as You Grow in Your Knowledge of God

The more you know about God, the more you grow

Grace Grows as You Grow in Your Knowledge of God was originally published on HighCity Church

Grace-Grows-as-You-Grow-in-Your-Knowledge-of-God“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” (2 Peter 1:1‭-‬3 KJV)

Today, I want to share with you on growing in grace and having grace multiplied unto you. The grace of God that is sufficient for us in all of life’s changing scenes, can increase and multiply. I pray that you grow in grace and see grace multiplied unto you. You will not miss your place in the arena of grace.  His grace is sufficient for us.

2 Peter 1:2-4 teaches clearly that grace and peace multiplies and grows through the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ our Lord; according as He has given us all things that pertains to life and godliness. The more you grow in your knowledge, the greater the grace on your life becomes. That is why attending conventions and conferences organised  in the church is important. In such meetings, we teach more intensely on selected themes to help you to grow. The truth shared helps you to grow and the grace on your life multiplies.

This year, I am looking forward to seeing you at all our conventions. I pray that you may plan and attend. I pray that as you spend quality time on the hill daily and as you read relevant materials on faith, you will grow in grace.

The grace of God is all it will take to double. You will double by grace. The grace of God will exempt you from death and accident. The grace of God will empower you to press on. You will make it. Don’t fret! Just trust God for grace. Your simple responsibility is to grow in the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. You have to strive to grow; don’t remain immature, just determine to grow.

Spend time reading, meditating and soaking in preaching tapes. The more you listen and read the better your chance of growing. May nothing keep you remaining a baby. May the Lord help you to desire and grow in knowledge. The more you know the better you chance of growing.

Keep walking in the way, by the truth and the life!

I love you!
