I want to speak to you today about 3 things that will make most people hold on to life.

[Job 14:14 KJV] “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.”

Very often than not, many of us in our own lifetime face disappointments and hard times. Often, many come to that point that they also despair of even life itself, but most people pull through. They fight for life and they fight to stay alive. Most people may have come to the point of contemplating even suicide; once they remember and find these three things, they begin to have a reason to live.

These 3 things are, someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for; these are the three key reasons many people hold on to life in very challenging times.

Someone to love:

Remember, I said someone to love, I did not say someone to love you. Most often than not people hold on to life when they have someone they love. Whether it is a good or a bad person does not matter. It is just someone to love. Whenever people get to the point of giving up; they will hold on and cling strongly to life when they have someone they can love.

[1 John 4:18 KJV] “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Something to do:

The second thing that will make most people hold on to life is if they have something to do. As long as people have something to do, they will hold on to life and not die. That is why you should not retire in life. Have you realised that when you find something to do, you seem to forget your pain and hurt and anxiety? Boredom and idleness kill. Let us strive to find something to do, in addition to someone to love.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption, But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption (Acts 13:36‭-‬37).

Something to hope for:

Finally, people cling to life when they have something to hope for. When I still have something to aspire for, I will hold on. The most formidable hope and aspiration to look forward to is the return of the Lord. When people expect the return of the Lord and promise of life and peace that follows, many of them are able to hold on.

The Bible, however, teaches us that, if in this life only that we have hope, then among all creatures we are the most miserable. Every one of us must have hopes and aspirations that transcends this life. We must all come to that place in life where we know that there is hope for the future. We must hope for a better tomorrow.

[1 Corinthians 15:19 KJV] “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable”

Stay blessed and stay safe

Learn to Encourage Yourself in the Lord!

When the crowds begin to depart, don’t be shocked — it is human nature for people to preserve themselves.
Many may give up on you and desert you, but never give up on desert yourself!

Originally published at highcity.org

[1 Samuel 30:6 KJV] “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God”.

The crowd is great when life is great; they sing your praises when all is well with you, but you know those who are really for you when difficult times come. This is a harsh but real truth about leadership and life. You have to understand that not everybody following and fighting along, and laughing with you is for you. Hard times and unfavourable conditions reveal your true friends and loyal followers.

Anybody can love and flow with you when things are really cool for you. Your real friends will be revealed when the devil hits you hard. The text we read is about David and his men. They were having a great time fighting the Lord’s battle and having a great time, until one day when the enemy besieged their city when they were away. The enemy carried away their wives and children and burned their camp.

The Bible tells us that when the men returned and saw that their wives and children have been carried away, they wept until they had no more strength to weep, and David was greatly distressed because the people talked about stoning him. When things go right, the crowd wants to share in the credit and glory but when things go wrong, they blame it on leadership. The tides turned against them, they thought about stoning David. The Bible says and David encouraged himself in the Lord.

You cannot always be turning to people and places for motivation and encouragement. You must learn to encourage yourself in the Lord daily because when things become difficult, most people will run away. Most people will desert you; even many of those who come around only come to find information for laughter and gossiping.

Listen, when the lights are low and the crowds begin to depart, don’t be shocked — it’s human nature for people to preserve themselves, you do too. Many may give up on you and desert you, but never give up on desert yourself.

To encourage yourself is to be able to say that I don’t know why this is befalling me, I can’t explain why things went the way they did, but God is still God and He will remain my God. You don’t have to change your perception of God because of what is happening, rather just keep trusting that He is working on something greater. Allow the word of God and His promises to minister to you in times when the lights are low.

Be blessed, I love you!

Don’t Throw away Tomorrow

Don’t throw in the towel. No situation is too bad for God to fix. Your case may be stinking but that cannot put God off.Originally published at highcity.org

[2 Timothy 1:3-14 KJV] “I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; [4] Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; [5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

[6] Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. [7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. [8] Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; [9] Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, [10] But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

[11] Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. [12] For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. [13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us”.

This message, Don’t Throw away Tomorrow, is inspired by what I learned from Dr. Robert Schuler. In an interview, he was asked the meaning of the title of his new book by the same title. And he replied, “Don’t stop living in hope”. I hope this message helps you to advance through lean seasons and challenging times. Always remember that tough times don’t last but tough people do.

The apostle Paul wrote that in carrying out his God-given assignment, he faced great pain, but he kept hope alive and pressed on, and was not ashamed because he knew whom he had believed, and was persuaded that He is able to keep that which he had committed to Him against that day. Hallelujah! God is able and He will perfect that which concerns us. None should throw away tomorrow. Mark my words and read my lips “Don’t throw away tomorrow”.

What does it mean? Don’t stop living in hope, don’t stop hoping for good as you live, loving God and in His purpose. Don’t throw in the towel. No situation is too bad for God to fix. Your case may be stinking but that cannot put God off.

Why should you keep tomorrow today? Because once there is life there is hope. Only a dead lion is hopeless but as long as there is life there is hope. Things may not be going the way you want but still, don’t throw away tomorrow.

Are you still serving the living God? Then say with the preacher, “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments“. (Habakkuk 3:17‭-‬19 KJV). Hallelujah! The ministry may not be growing the way you want but don’t throw away tomorrow. The marriage may have grown stale but don’t throw away tomorrow.

How then can you keep tomorrow today?

1. Be persuaded that the gift you received is still in you:

The gifts and callings of God are without repentance.

2. Stir up the gift of God resident in you:

What is this gift? It is power, love, and sound mind. Don’t lose your drive, your love, or your sound mind.

3. Don’t be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord nor of His prisoners:

Be willing to be a partaker of the affliction of Christ if that is the will of God. They won in heaven because they did not love their lives unto death (Revelations 12)

4. Hold fast the form of sounds words that you have heard of me in faith and love:

Hold fast to sound words. Hold fast to words that strengthen and lift you up.

5. Keep that which is committed to your care by the Holy Spirit:

There is no way you can keep that which is trusted to you except by the Holy Ghost.

Be blessed!

I love you;

Advancing with Contentment

Sometimes, we are so focused on the greener pastures on the other side that we tend to ignore the budding grass all around usOriginally published at highcity.org

The Lord expects us to make progress and advance in life; “but godliness with contentment is great gain”. There is therefore the need to understand how to make progress without fretting.

[Philippians 3:13-15 KJV] “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you”.

Focus on where you want to go, but don’t forget where you used to be. Sometimes, we are so focused on the greener pastures on the other side that we tend to ignore the budding grass all around us. It is so easy to wish that you were where I am, but that is because you do not have the full details of my story. I believe that the easiest way to advance without stress is to focus on where we want to go but not forget where we are coming from.

Do not focus so much on where you are aspiring for until you lose focus of where you are now. Where you are may not be the best; but it may be the best stepping stone to get you to the next place where God is taking you.

I pray that you will not lose hope but will press on and forge forward untill you make it to the end. The best is yet to come and your now is still better than what it could have been. Be blessed!

I love you

5 Truths that Will Guide You in 2019

Many are the purposes and intents in our hearts, but only few of us will be able to carry it out to the end; to a fruitful conclusion. What simple keys can guide you as you arise to discharge your mandate?Originally published at highcity.org

Many of us have a purpose to do what is right, but we lack the know how or the plans to discharge our charge.

Romans 7:14-18 KJV] “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [15] For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

[16] If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. [17] Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not”.

As we have been confessing lately, ‘we have a charge to keep, a God to glorify, a never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky’. We all know what to do, but only a few, if any, know how to do it. In Roman’s 7:17, Apostle Paul states very clearly that he knows what to do, but not how to do it.

How then can you discharge your purpose? How can you do what you have to do? Many are the purposes and intents in our hearts, but only few of us will be able to carry it out to the end; to a fruitful conclusion. What simple keys can guide you as you arise to discharge your mandate?

1. In 2019, Keep Hope Alive:

We know that faith is the substance of things hoped for.

[Hebrews 11:1 KJV] “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

So then, there cannot be faith when there is no hope. You must hope, before you can have faith. In this year of the Lord, you must keep hope alive.

2. In 2019, Love the Lord With All of Your Heart:

Romans 8:28 teaches that all things work together to the good of those who love the Lord, and are called according to his promise. When you love God passionately and with all of your heart, you will be able to stand and withstand to the end.

3. In 2019, Be Led by The Spirit:

Romans 8:14 teaches that as many as are led by the Spirit of the Lord, they are the sons of God. When you are led and follow the spirit of the Lord, you will not walk in the desires of the flesh.

[Galatians 5:17 KJV] “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would”.

4. In 2019, Don’t Take Dreams and Visions for Granted:

[Joel 2:28 KJV] “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”

The Lord will speak to us and deliver us through dreams and visions. It is important to treat your dreams and visions as communication with God by dark speeches. The Lord shall lead you through revelation. Dreams give us insight into visions and purpose. There are so many spiritual exchanges that takes place in dreams. Solomon received wisdom and wealth in a night vision. Joseph, the was led by dreams and vision. Time will not allow me to mention all those who took advantage of their dreams , but remember, Apostle Paul saw dreams and vision. The whole conversion of Cornelius and his household came about through his vision and Apostle Peter’s dream and trance. Ananias was instructed in a vision to go and meet the newly converted Paul. So in 2019, never take your dreams for granted.

5. In 2019, Recieve The Ministry of Angels:

As you carry on with your assignments, remember that angels are ministers sent to minister for the heirs of salvation.

[Hebrews 1:14 KJV] “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Angels are spiritual being that are sent to comfort, strengthen, help, and even deliever messages to the children of God. In this year of the Lord, invoke their activities by asking the Father to send His angels; by entertaining strangers; and by the fear the Lord.

This year is a good year, it is our year of serving the Lord and things shall go well. Be blessed.

I love you;

Stand up to Life!

There is a purpose for your life and you must run with that purpose. You are an eagle and not a chicken. You can, and will make it if you try.Originally published at highcity.org

Stand up to life; you are too saved and graced to bow out! You have what it takes to live a higher life in Christ Jesus where you belong. You belong to royalty and you cannot bow out.

[Joshua 1:1-11 KJV] “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, [2] Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. [3] Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. [4] From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

[5] There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. [6] Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. [7] Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. [9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

[10] Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, [11] Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it”.

It is time to stand up to life and run with vision. It is time to discharge every charge of our lives. This is the time to;

  1. Shake off the dust
  2. Be strong and courageous
  3. Step out and take risk; nothing beats experience.

You are too gifted to fail! We are recreated, blessed, seated, mandated, and fed to rule in life.

  • We are recreated in the image and likeness of the Christ to reign on life by him.
  • We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places to be fruitful, subdue the earth, replenish and fill it.
  • We are seated in heavenly places in Christ far above all principalities, powers,  dominions, and thrones.
  • We have tasted and been partakers of the heavenly gift, the Holy Ghost, the good word, and the power of the world to come.

This is the time to stand up to life. You are too gifted to fail. There is a purpose for your life and you must run with that purpose. You are an eagle and not a chicken. You can, and will make it if you try.

Receive Everyday as a Gift

Every day you spend alive is the Lord’s doing and marvellous in the eyes of those with understanding. I exhort you to rejoice in this day and bless the Lord no matter what. Originally published at highcity.org

[Psalms 118:23‭-‬24 KJV]This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”.

It is not by default that when we sleep, we should wake up. Whenever you see the dawn of a new day, it is time to receive that day as a gift from God. Every day you spend alive is the Lord’s doing and marvellous in the eyes of those with understanding. I exhort you to rejoice in this day and bless the Lord no matter what. There is hope for a living dog than a dead lion. Once you are joined to the living, there is hope.

I pray for you that your day goes well! I pray that the Lord shall sustain and help you through the day! May you be able to give up complaining and nagging and begin to be grateful and praiseful! Everyone of us has what it takes to make it through the day. You will not fail once you keep faith alive. You can make it and excel if you can maintain focus and press on to excellence.

Things may not be going the way you planned it but you cannot always have things the way you have planned it. The grace of God is enough to see you through. All it takes is grace. All it takes is the mercies of God. If you have life, Just say, ‘Thank You Jesus’. If you have life, you have one of the key things that matter in life. I pray that you can trust God and walk in His wisdom.

Be blessed, I love you!

Show the Same Diligence to the End!

Those who finish well have no secret except they trust God through all the changing scenes of life; they push further when all others give up; and they tap into the power of praying alone.Originally published at highcity.org

[Hebrews 6:11‭-‬12 KJV]“And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”.

I believe you remember that we have a mandate to preach the gospel to the ends of the world, and I believe you know that it includes travelling to other places, preaching the gospel in the streets, starting local church meetings, and discipling many nations. This is possible if everyone of us shall show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end. God does not want us to be just diligent but to show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope.  We must be fully persuaded of the same things we hoped for to the end. Some start well but don’t end well; but you must end with the same assurance with which you started.

  1. Take God at His word
  2. Push a little further
  3. Find time to be alone with God

These are the three simple secrets to ending well and strong. Those who finish well have no secret except they trust God through all the changing scenes of life; they push further when all others give up; and they tap into the power of praying alone.  You can show the same diligence to the end if you learn to take God at His word. God means whatever He says and we must treat His word with all seriousness. When God speaks, He means it. God does not mince words. We must learn to take God at His word if we can reach far with the preaching of the gospel.

The second secret is stretch your faith a bit. Add actions to your faith. When Jesus came walking on the sea in Matthew 14:26, the disciples thought they were seeing a ghost but the Lord said ” no it is I”. When the Lord said that all the disciples bèlieved, but the only disciple who added works to his faith also walked on the sea. Apostle Peter stretched his faith and walked on the sea. You will go far when you add works to your faith. Faith without works is dead.

Tap into the power of praying alone. This is the secret to power. Those who pray alone have enough power to share. The Lord spent time alone in the mountain and had power over nature. Even the wind obeyed Him. May you spend time alone with God and come out wielding power over nature and storms.  You can show the same diligence to full assurance of hope to the end; if you learn the secret to believe, act and pray.

Be blessed, I love you

God will Fight for You!

Your adversary will tell your story. They shall acknowledge that the Lord is your defense.Originally published at highcity.org

[Exodus 14:14‭, ‬23‭-‬25 KJV] “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians”.

We are living in the age of grace and vengeance. We have learnt in Luke 18 that the Lord shall avenge His own speedily upon the enemy. You will be defended and the Lord shall protect you. Having prayed the prayer of Jabez, the hand of the Lord shall defend you and you shall see the overthrow of wickedness. The wicked shall not carry the day. The Lord shall fight for you and win.

I see that as you hold your peace, your very eyes shall see the destruction of wickedness, and your ears shall hear of the wicked testifying that your God has fought for you. Our generation shall witness great and mighty acts of God in His glory. The Lord shall defend and protect His own. The chariots of life that are pursuing you today, you shall see them no more!

By the morning watch, when joy comes, the Lord shall watch through the pillar of clouds and fire, and He shall take the wheels off the chariots of the enemy and they shall drive them heavily. Your adversary and afflictors shall flee from you but they shall not escape. The Lord shall be your defense. Hold your peace and God shall come to fight for you. Your adversary will tell your story. They shall acknowledge that the Lord is your defense.

There is Hope for He that is Joined to the Living

You must not be isolated, you must not keep company with those who are dead in trespassesOriginally published at highcity.org

[Ecclesiastes 9:4‭-‬5 KJV] “For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten”.

There is hope for he that is joined to the living, did you know that? At least the living know they will die, but the dead know nothing. At least the living consider death as another step, but the memory of the dead is completely forgotten. They have no more reward and they have no knowledge.

Today, I want to exhort you that we shall all die one day and we shall all not know what happens after us. When we wake up and see the light of day, we must count ourselves blessed, because there is then one more thing we can do to make things right.

You may have failed yesterday, but note, today is a great day to be alive, and to right your wrongs. As long as there is life, there is hope. Don’t let your past cast doubt on your promising future. You can leave the past behind you and press on towards a glorious future. You can look forward and press on towards the mark of His high calling.

It is however not good for you to be alone. You must connect with the living if you are alive. You must not be isolated, you must not keep company with those who are dead in trespasses. May the Lord help each one of us who are connected to the living to live right and gratefully.

Indeed, there is hope for a living dog than for a dead lion. May you walk with confidence and know that there is hope. God is faithful and He keep His word. There is no time to give up. There is no time to mourn and cry. This is the time to press on; to press on till we win.

Stay blessed; I love you!
