Resist the devil in faith

‭1 Peter 5:9 KJV‬ — whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Whether you know it or not; whether you are aware or not, there is an adversary that is seeking for an occasion to devour you. The Bible teaches that he is roaring. This adversary, the devil is roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour.

The exhortation here is to resist him steadfastly in the faith. Don’t entertain him! Don’t bargain with him! Have no negotiation with him! Don’t dialogue with him! Don’t report him to your pastor! Just resist him steadfastly in the faith. Don’t run away from him! Resist him!

The following simple steps  will help you to resist him in the faith;

Refuse to compromise

The purpose of all temptation and affliction is to cause you to compromise your faith. Jesus told Peter “the devil has sought to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail.” He tempted Jesus in the wilderness and requested worship. The devil wants you to compromise, don’t yield.

Resist him with the truth

He will twist and misquote scriptures; you can resist him when you know and speak what is written. On all three occasions when he tempted Jesus Christ, he quoted the scriptures. Your knowledge of the truth is one of the effective weapons against the adversary.

Continue in prayer and fasting; don’t despair!

He wants to frustrate you until you give up. He wants you to lose hope and give up. He frustrated Judas until he committed suicide. May you never despair! May you go stronger and stronger!

Prayer

  • Father, we bless You for the new day. May Your name become a strong tower and a hiding place unto us!
  • Father, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. We decrees, that any power assigned to fight and subdue us; be resisted now! I command fire and thunder to confront and crash that evil power in the name of Jesus Christ!
  • Thank You Lord for Your grace and mercy! Thank You for Your protection from calamity, and evil schemes. Thank You for assigning angels to protect us! AMEN.

Stay blessed.
